Just to clear the air

Well, I know that many of you are familiar with the phenomenon that is facebook. Part of how I know is because of how many phone calls and messages I have received on facebook about the events of last weekend. Well, it all started when I was hanging out with 2 of my best friends a couple of weeks ago. We got to talking and decided that we needed to go to the Temple, because we hadn't been for a while. And I won't have the opportunity to go to the Temple again until December when I'm in Taiwan. So we got a group of 8 of us that went up to the Temple on Saturday. OK, well, when you get a group of good friends together, conversation usually turns odd/weird/out of control, however you want to say it. So we were talking about people getting married and that stuff. I commented that all I really care about my wedding is that it's in the Temple and that Grandpa is the one that does the Sealing. Then one of the girls in the back says, "Oh really? That's all it takes, huh?" And I guess we just thought it would be funny to pretend like we were engaged. Of course, we weren't try to fool anyone. We were being about as cheesy as possible. It was just really humorous. So I decided that I would put it on facebook to see what kind of reaction I got, and I must say, I have been very impressed with the reaction. So I do apologize for any worry that I may have caused anyone. That wasn't the desired result. And just rest assured, when I do eventually get engaged, it will be pretty obvious that it's for real. I can almost guarantee that you all will have heard at least SOMETHING about the girl I would be dating. I'm not exactly one to keep my personal life very personal. :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!

Happy birthday Mom! You really are amazing and I love you! I know you said you were going to cancel today - but that just doesn't really work. So happy 70th. I hope you have a great day.

Love you!

Caroll

Little Update

Well, there really isn't a whole lot going on here for me to report. I just posted a little something on my blog though. It isn't much, but it's something. I was just thinking, and I decided that I probably aught to warn you all... My thought processes aren't exactly always in English, and they aren't really all the way in Chinese either. So while I'm gone in China, I'm sure that quite a few of my posts will have random Chinese stuff stuck in there. If it makes you feel any better, it probably wouldn't make much sense to a Chinese person either. The grammar I use in my head is kind of a mixture of English and Chinese. I'm sure that my parents and siblings would attest to that from the letters I sent back from my mission. About the only people that would really understand it are people that speak both English and Chinese... Or people who know me well enough to infer what I must be talking about from the context of what they can understand. Anyway, I'm just counting down the days until I leave! 14 days left! I fly out Monday, September 1, and I can't wait!

A few letters from Tommy boy

August 4th Letter

So i never thought i would leave salem, i loved that area but i got transfered. I had a good departure though we had a baptism last friday i'll send some pictures it was really sweet. So i got sent to ashland oregon. It is the coolest place in oregon man it is so pretty. It is a town of about 20,000 poeple and there is just me and my comp that cover it. It is a pretty dead area so we've got to build it up. You should look it up on the internet it is so cool. It was founded by the poeple who kicked the mormons out in jackson county missouri so it used to be really anti, it still is a little. IT is the most liberal town in oregon, it isn't against the law for peo ple to walk around naked. There are soo many hippies here it is crazy, there is this place named lithia park with hippies everywhere. It is a pretty sweet town though, the ward isn't too big. Do you guys remember the zirlagans in southgate ward?? Well his mom and all of his family live here. There was also a girl who came up to me in church and said she went to efy with mike and said he was her favorite teacher, she must be crazy or somethin, jk. So my companions name is Elder Simpson, we were in the m.t.c. together he is from jacksonville florida and is a pretty cool kid. He is kind of quiet at times though. I really miss salem but i will love ashland once the work starts picking up. My district has no sisters yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay haha it only has 3 companionships and their areas are pretty dead too so i've got to help out with that. It should be a fun transfer. Hey mom could you send me some more facewash, just the cetaphil. So how are those pictures of the family coming?? When are you going to send some? Hope all is well
love you guys Elder Goldhardt

August 11th Letter

Hows it goin? Today might be one of the worst days on my mission, it is the first preparation day that i haven't played basketball. We live 20 minutes away from the zone and we don't have enough miles, it's pretty lame. So this week has been pretty good, our area used to have 2 wards but after a while they combined the 2. There are only a couple hundred active and like 600 less active, so there is a lot of work to do there. The area here is beautiful though, i was on the phone last night and walked outside, there were 2 deer like 5 feet away from me, it was crazy. So for the package mom you could have jeff download some good missionary approved music and s end it out to me, that would be way sweet, i'm too poor to buy c.d.'s and the ones me and my comp have are getting really boring. BUt if not it's all good Hope everything is going well
Love ya Elder Goldhardt

Good News/Bad News

So the good news is that Shanell is unbroken and unscratched. The bad news is that we can't say the same for her car. The angels have been working overtime at our house this summer!!! Shanell was in an accident yesterday on her way to church. She ended up going through a fence, taking out a tree and rolling over 2 or 3 times before coming to rest on the driver's side. We are very grateful that she is unhurt. She has a bit of a stiff and sore neck, but other than that is doing fine.

Belated birthday wishes!

Very late birthday wishes to Trevor. His birthday was the same day as Rachelle's marriage. Sorry we stole your day, but we still love you!!!

Just thought that since I have something to write I should let you know that I had one of the best days of my life today. Justin's brother Alex got his Endowment, Justin got to be his escort, His brother Carl took Ryan's(the brother who just passed away) name through, and then 4 of his other younger sibling were sealed to Mom and Dad while his brother Greg stood Proxy for Dad. It was amazing. I always understood the reason for eternal families but now I know the reason for eternal families. Wow is all I can say. If you want to know about another tender mercy we recieved today go to my mom and dad's family blog.

Church History trip

We took a quick trip to Independence and Liberty this week. Didn't get a lot of pictures (in fact this is the only picture we took, and the sister missionary at the visitors center took it for us), but we did have a wonderful time.

It was quite a testimony builder. When we left Liberty, just after watching the Joseph Smith movie, Hyrum commented, "I don't think I can ever watch that movie without crying." As a matter of fact, I don't think that anyone got out of there without wet eyes.

For those of you who don't recognize this family photo, the young man on the right is Vincent. He was one of Keith's first investigators. He came all the way from Taiwan for a 2 week visit. He asked Keith if there were some church history sites to visit in Missouri. So I guess it was all his idea to go to Liberty and Independence. Glad he came for a visit.

Bathtime

They're growing fast, these two. We had a fun time in the bath today, I got a cute video of them playing and laughing their heads off together. Unfortunately, I noticed as I was watching it that there are certain parts of little G~ showing in the video that shouldn't be viewed by the general public. You wouldn't notice it unless you were looking, but it's would still be inappropriate of me to post. So alas, nobody gets to see my super cute video of the kids playing but me. A shame.

If everything goes as planned, Garry will start his new job in Las Vegas on October 1st, so we will be moving sometime around then. We haven't yet found a place to live, but it will happen.

We have a trip planned to Missouri at the end of September. I can't wait for everyone to meet sweet Baby R~. You're gonna love her. On top of all of that love you already have for Little G~. :)

We are excited for both the trip and the new job. Fun times ahead!

Disneyland

We had a great time at Disneyland with Jamie, Josh and Matt.

Josh, Jamie and Matt come to visit!

Josh, Jame and little matthew came out to Utah for a few short days! We had lots of fun, you can go to our blog to check out all of the fun pictures! We had a blast!

It never stops.

I don't know if you can see it in this picture...but Mikey's face is COVERED in water droplets from him trying to squirt water in his mouth. This boy loves spray bottles. No joke. I left the room to talk on the phone for just a minute and he finds the bottle and is not only spraying it in his mouth...it's all over the floor. And guess what else is on the floor. Gavin. Yep no.3 was taking a nap on his tummy and when I get back in the living room after a short phone call...Mikey is spraying the water all over the place. Gavin wasn't awake so I assumed that he didn't get wet. Well...I guessed wrong. After I took a few pictures and took the spray bottle away from no.1 I go to pick up Gavin...and he is SOAKED. But he's totally zonked. So I left him there for a little while...but then the A/C kicked on so he got cold. Then he started crying. But I think that kiddo will do okay with older brothers around. As long as he can tolerate their little things they do to him. lol. Silly squirty kids.
The video is Xander walking. He started walking right before Gavin was born and it's about time. Look at that kid go!
