Missouri Christmas

We had a fun day out at Grandma and Grandpa Adams. There was an extremely LONG line to hold Wes. I did cut in a line a couple of times, but not for a long turn. Could anyone from Utah ship a few over??? Carolann and Marie showed up later to help shorten the baby line :D Jamie of course, would have loved to contribute.

Baby Rachel is HERE!!

Well, I don't have pictures yet, because I don't have a memory card reader for my camera with me here at the hospital. They do, however, have free WiFi Internet so I can post from my laptop here in the convenience of my room! How cool is that!?
So, Here's the Specs. Rachel Melissa Adams was born today (Sunday December 30, 2007) at 5:03 P.M. She weighs in at 7 pounds 12 ounces and is 20 inches long. She is also the cutest little girl I've ever seen! We'll make sure and get some photos up this evening. So check back often if they aren't up yet. They will be soon, we promise! We love you all and look forward to seeing some of you really soon!

WE had a fun christmas. When we brought Lydia in the tree was lit adn it had lots of presents under there. We didnt put teh presents under till after she went to sleep christmas eve, so she had never seen it. When we brought her in she says "Oh Wow!" it was so cute. The first thing she opened was that little car sh eis holding. Sh eloved it. It was small enough she could just hold it, so she watched us open the rest of her presents. then I opened a little 3 inch doll and she wanted to hold that one too. This last picture is a little 5 galon bucket seat. She loves it, and it only cost me $5 for teh bucket cause I had everythign else I needed. it's so cute, it's purple with white dasies on it. And she mostly uses it as a steping stool for the couch, or phone table. :)

New Computer!!!

So our computer died last week. We got the blue screne of death two ro three times and it froze even more than that, so as of wednesday we havetn turned on our computer. We didnt want it to totally crash before we pulled all our information and pictures off it. So we spent our tax return a little early this year and brought homw a brandnew 2008 really nice lap top today for a christmas. It wasnt on our list till a few days ago. :) But when we do get our tax return a nice video camera is also comming. But until then our new computer has a built in web cam that looks liek you are looking in a mirror it's so crystal clear, and I'm assuming the sound is good enough to match as well. So next t iem we post a video it shoudl sound liek it's suppose to. And grandma now I can make you a dvd of all our videos that you cant view on yoru slow computer...soon as we get someDVDs any way. :) It's nice to be connected again. Merry Christmas everyone!

The 10th day of Christmas

I think there were more than 10 pipers piping when it came time to make potato cannons out of P.V.C. pipe. One summer the boys used green apples for ammunition. They stood on the raft in the middle of the lake and tried to bat the appples being fired at them from the shore. Part of the time they hit the apples and part of the time the apples hit them. I can't remember who all was involved with that battle but I know Garry, Keith , and Marshall were in the thick of it and I think that Nickle was part of it also.
Then the year that Goldhardts all came out in the R.V and they used a 10 lb. sack of potatoes for ammunition. Last but not least was the summer of 2005, Jim must have made a dozen trips to Lowes to try and get his pipe cannon to fire his potato ammunition. The cannon never did work all that well and I ended up with an extra bag of potatoes. When all is said and done it appears that this family is more "war-like" than "musical" when it comes to piping.

Well, dear family, today is Christmas Eve and I am only on the 10th day of Christmas. I missed a few days in there somewhere so I will just have to save them for another year. (or not) I love you all 365 days a year and I am so grateful for a knowledge of the plan of salvation and a testimony of it's truthfulness. How blessed I am to have such a large and wonderful eternal family. Love forever and ever and ever and even beyond, Grandma

As you know Tom Goldhardt is in the MTC for Christmas this year. Christmas is such a wonderful holiday because everyone is celebrating the birth of our Savior! It is also a time where we stop and think of our family and the love that we have for them. Because of this, it makes it a little tough to be away from home (even if it is only about 45 miles). OK this is a stretch but it's all I can come up with.....Two or three Sundays ago it was raining and I was resting on the couch in the front room. I heard a "ra-ta-ta-tat, ra-ta-ta-tat." I thought I was just dreaming so I tried to go back to sleep but the taping came again. I got up to see where it was coming from. It sounded like the roof was leaking but I couldn't see any evidence of water dripping. Soon the sound came again and I got up and looked again. It sounded like it was coming from the fireplace so I opened the door but didn't see anything. The ra-ta-ta-tat was getting louder and bolder so I got up and got a flash light to look in the fireplace again. With the beam of the flash light I could see one very frightened and quite dirty squirl who thought he was Santa Clause and had come down my chimney and was trying to gnaw his way out again. (Sort of gives new meaning to the phrase "drop in sometime." Mike and Jayce captured him for me and set him free. Have a wonderful 9th day of Christmas. I love you, Grandma

Milking the cows every morning and evening was as routine as brushing our teeth. (actually, it was more routine) The milking was done in the morning before I was up and dressed but I often watched Mama as she milked the cows in the evening. She made it look so effortless. The long stream of steaming white milk filled th milk pail with such speed that a froth would form on the top and around the edges. She would usually give a "squirt" to the barn cats that always came around for a free meal. One evening I convinced Mama that I was big enough to milk the cow and she consented to let me try. I discovered there was more to it than just giving a little squeeze, and the milk didn't come streaming out for me as it did for Mother. She taught me to push, pull, and squeeze all at the same time but the old cow still didn't want to turn loose of her milk for me like she did for Mom. Finally Roosevelt, the cow, got tired of my practicing and decided she was through. She started to walk off and put her foot right in the middle of the milk bucket. When the milk man came to pick up the milk that day we were one bucket short and that, of course, made our milk check short that month. That was the last time that this maid did any milking.
If you do any holiday baking on this 8th day of Christmas, just be happy you can go to the fridge and get iyour milk (and that some old cow hasn't stuck her foot in it.) I love you, Grandma

7th day of Christmas

We had an above ground pool in our back yard when we lived in Utah. It was only about four feet deep but it offered a lot of fun on a hot summer day. Caroll was less than three years old but she loved the pool as much as any of the kids and soon developed a swimming style of her very own. She would jump into the pool and swim across the pool with out ever even taking a breath. I never let her go to the pool by herself but one day she got out of the house and decided she needed a swim. As she jumped into the pool I heard a shriek and saw my next door neighbor race across my back yard to "rescue" my baby from what she was sure would be the bottom of the pool. Caroll was happily on the other side with a big smile and wet clothes and I was "scolded" for being a negligent mother.
Only five more of these left before Christmas. (That is one more thing to be thankful for!)

Early Christmas

Well well well...this year is going to be fun. Mikey found one of his gifts and started unwraping it. I caught him before he found out what it was. Xander on the other hand...is just happy to chew on things. Either way they're both getting into everything. Xander can sit up by himself now and he's stared crawling on his elbows and knees. Mikey is becoming a Parrot. I'm not mommy anymore I'm now Ris. cause that's what daddy calls me. Silly boys. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

As most of you know, we have two Canadian Geese who think of our lake as home. They come every fall and stay through the spring and into early summer. They will build a nest and mother goose lays several eggs that she faithfully sets on. They often build the nest on low ground and when the spring rains come it floods the nest and cools the eggs so they won't hatch. One year Jayce found the eggs that had been left and decided that he would save the unhatched birds. He put them in a drawer where he could keep them nice and warm. Ann found the eggs several days later and "riper" but fortunately before they "hatched."

When Jamie was three or four years old she liked to go through my jewelry box and try on all of my rings. One day after she had been trying on my rings she said to me: "Grandma, can I have one of your rings?" I said, "do you want me to leave you one of my rings when I die?" She had a look of sheer terror on her face and said, "I don't want you to die!" I guess she decided that if I had to die for her to get one of my rings she really didn't want it. She still likes to go through my jewelry box and try on my rings but I'm sure she would still rather have me around than one of my rings.

I'm sure you will not be surprised to learn that this story is also about Keith. (smile)
When Keith was younger (but not a lot younger) he made an Ozark Turkey Call for calling wild turkey birds. It was made from an old curved cow horn that he hollowed out and put a mouth piece on. He told people that if they would blow into it the wild turkey birds would be attracted to it. What he didn't tell them was that he had filled the horn with flour and when someone blew into one end the flour would blow out the other end. He sprayed several "Ozark turkeys" with a coating of white flour all over their face.

The 3rd day of Christmas

Growing up in the country we always raised most of what we ate, including hens to produce eggs. Most of the animals were all kept in the same pasture and Dad kept them in with an electric fence. The fence was made of barbed wire and was powered with a battery operated charge that would send an electric impulse every 15 seconds. Dad would turn the fence off long enough to attach kernels of corn on the barbs of the wire then turn the fence on again. The hens of course, would try to eat the corn off of the fence and get a charge that would send them squawking and flapping their wings. Now that is what you could call a "hot chicken dinner."

In 1969 or family made our first trip from Utah to Missouri. We all fell in love with everything about it. (well, I was already in love with it but the rest of the family decided I had good taste.) We didn't have a lot of money for souveniers and things like that but we picked up "sea" shells by the dozens along the bank of the Mississippi river. They also picked up two turtles and decided to bring them home with us for pets. We stopped at a park in Iowa on our way home and the turtles crawled into a hollow log and just "disappeared." We looked and looked but we never did find them and couldn't figure out how they could just disappear like that. (I'm sure some of you mom's out there can figure it out.)

The 1st day of Christmas

When Keith was 9 or 10 years old he decided to climb the big cottonwood tree in ou back yard. He said he could remember looking down at the tops of the telephone poles. He lost his footing and his hold at the same time and came falling all the way to the ground. He broke off a few tree branches on his way down and that was what turned him so he landed flat on his back. I took him over to see the family pediatrician, Dr. Sidway, who sent me to an orthopedic specialist. The xray confirmed that his back was broken but because of the place where it was broken it couldn't be put into a cast. I was to keep him flat on his back for at least 6 weeks. (Keeping Keith flat on hs back was a request similar to asking Marie to keep David from moving for 6 weeks.) That was before the day of remote chanal changers and I was in and out of his bed room 12 times a minute. Dr. Sidoway called the next day to see how he was doing and I ask him if he could prescribe something for pain. "Is he in a lot of pain?" he ask. My reply was "No but I would like to give him a little."

I really didn't forget Jamie's birthday yesterday but I didn't get it posted on the blog for all of you to remember. When she called me yesterday I talked to her for several minutes and didn't even wish her a happy birthday. She forgave me tho, cause she is in such a good mood about coming back to the U.S.A. this week end. We love you Jamie! Happy birthday!

Flood or Ice?

Thats the question all of us are asking. As of now Kansas City has been declared the worst place in the nation to be. At the moment everthing is melting, so it's a little cold and wet. Well more than a little wet. There's quite a bit of water. But, later today the temperature is going to drop and all of this water that has melted is going to turn back into ice. So hopefully we don't have to go anywhere. Mike still isn't for sure if he's going to work tonight or not. Cause as of now the roads are fine for travel. But like I said it's going to get colder. They told us to expect some power outages. We're prepared if needed. Just wanted to let you all know we're doing fine and the boys and us are all safe. We love you!

Halloween in December

So My sister in law took great pictures of Lydia and I in our costumes for Halloween but she is SOOO buisy and hasnt had time to get them to me. She when I was out there this morning I copied them on a CD so I could post them. I was so proud of my self. I made her monkey costume and my pirate costume with out ANY patterns. And I spent...I think about $8 when you count the thread too, on EVERYTHING. You can't see all the details casue it's brown on brown, but she has monkey feet with little fingers, and a long tail in the back, and I have lace cuffs too. I even brought my concertina to the ward party, and played a coupel pirate songs for my monkey to dance to...but the monkey didn't dance, she just tried to get the concertina. :)

Stupid Kids

Well it snowed here finally, so last night after the kids went to bed I went outside and made them a snowman right in front of our livingroom window so they could see it. It wasn't big, but I only had some little knit gloves so my fingers were FROZEN by the time I went inside. I even looked around forever to find some sticks to make arms and a face with. It looked so cute!

I would have poasted a picture of our 3ft high snowman...but as I was getting my camera out and suiting up to go outside I hear a CRUNCH. I pull back the curtain and there's 2 boys kicking over my snowman. I didn't have my shoes on yet so I didn't go outside. I just rolled my eyes. I guess I'll have to make another one. The boys didn't even get to see it. I can't wait till we don't live in Aparments anymore. GGRRR.

well, i have never posted anything on here before, so watch out for my mistakes!
I thought i would just tell everyone how Alan and I are doing.
Well, we have been living in our house for about 2 months now( we live in a basement). And it's awesome, the family upstairs from us is lot of fun. Our ward is awesome, I've heard they are the nicest ward in our area, so that's a plus. Alan is working for his brother, Will, framing houses and he loves it. As for me, I'm at work right now... yes on a Saturday, but it's a good job. I work for a pediatric office doing secretary stuff, and i have been taught to give shots(ill add i dont like). but it is good for me because one day i want to be a pediatric nurse. BUUUUTT anyway, here are some pictures of us since we've been out here in Utah!

this is a bowling night we had with some friends and some family. if you look really close, i just got a stike! YEAAHH! this is my niece that is with me her name is Madison. we have had a lot of fun out here! but we still miss missouri ALOT!! we love you guys!

Terriann and Todd had their baby boy on Dec. 1, 2007. He weighed 8 lbs 15 oz. and was 21" long. They are all doing great and are happy he's here.

Christmas is comming...

White Rabbit! Hey, everyone knew someone was gonn asay it. :) Oh adn Merry Christmas! Thats even better. I'm so excited for Christmas this year, for loots of reasons, It's Lydias first Christmas, but it's not like she knows what's going on. We are still trying to figure out what to di with her about the tree.
Oh and off subject...but I guess not really casue Christmas is all about service, I wanted to tell you about the fun enrichment I had this week. We did a service auction. Everyoen who wanted to could donate a service, some peopel brought food or blankets or other stuff they made that night, other people wrote on cards they had what their service was and who it was from, liek several people donated hair cuts, and back massages, and babysitting. I gave sewing help and tap lessons, and an evening here at my house. People came up with soem pretty great stuff. When we got there we had soup in bread bowls as we filled out our survey. It had things like, if you smled at someone today give yoru self 10 points. If you read your scriptures today give your self 50 points. I fyou have no dishes in your sink give yoru self 20 points. If you babysat for free in teh last 2 weeks give yoru self 40 points. So when we finished we totaled up our points and we got little cards with liek 5 points, and 10 points on them, I also though it would have been cute to use monolopu money. But then two of teh husbands were the auctioneres, and another husband was our nursery babysitter (the night was all about service). So they read off what was on teh card and who was givign it and they woudl start the bidding. Who ever won would go to the "teller" and trade in their points for the service card. I ended up gettign cookies, adn a dinner at someones house, free babysitting, baby stuff that someone will make, and a scrapbooking evening at someones house that will help me with my scrapbooking. It was so fun! And I'm goign to be doing stuff with people n the ward that I dont normally do stuff with and it's a great way to get to knwo eachother adn serve people you dont normally think about serving. IT was awesome, i totallu suggest doing it in your wards.

Medals

Yesterday night BYU had national judges come in to grade our dancing on a national scale. It was really cool. We danced the Foxtrot and the Cha-cha. Wednesday night, I practiced with my Teacher's Assistant, and she seemed really positive, which is always a good sign. Apparently, the judge that was judging that night when I danced was judging a lot harder than the judge from earlier in the day. But I still got a 93 out of 100! I was really excited. Dancing is so fun! I'm going to take Dance 280 (Intermediate Social Dance) next semester, and then this summer I'm going to help Kami Lowe teach the dance class at the Student Ward there in Springfield. Anyway, just thought I would let everyone know how I did and brag a little bit :)

Silent Night

I have been learning some new Christmas songs, so I thought I'd share them with you. Our web cam isn't the greratest quality, and that's what I recorded it with, so just pretend it sounds clear. This is one a learned a couple weeks ago. And if I can perfect a few others I'll post some more Christmas songs later too. :) Let me know if you have any requests and I'll see if I can find the music.

Our Little Over Achiever

Well I'm still waiting on Halloween pictures from my sister inlaw. But as soon as I get them I'll post the super cute ones, which willb e hard casue they were all pretty super cute. And in other news, Lydia is offically walking as of teh day after thanksgiving. A week short of 10 months. I think she has been able to do it for a long time but hasnt had the confidence, but when we were at Garry and Sheri's for thanksgiving, she had motivation to try casue they have the hard industrial carpet adn Lydia was getting big sores on her little knees, so after 2 days she had had enough and started walking all over like she really knew how to do it al along but was just waiting for the perfect time. It was fun, but of course she is a stuborn little toad and wont do it when we want to show her off, so it may be a few days before I can actually get a good video of it. But when I do I'll post it. She is our little over achiever. :)

Once there was a Snowman...

Well, it snowed in Willard last night. First snow of the season. When Lilly got up she was excited. I asked if we needed to make a snowman before I went to work this morning and she heartily agreed. SOOOOO.... We donned our snoiw gear and headed out into the harsh winter wasteland. (If you look closely at the pictures you will see that the grass is green, not snow covered). The resources for making a snowman were a little on the skimpy side. However, we were able to find snow on the slippery slide, the trampoline and on the fort. So that's what we used.

As you can see from the smile on his face, he is one happy snowman (and Lilly is one happy little girl). We came in just in time to sit down to a warm breakfast of Biscuits and sausage gravy --YUM YUM. Lilly said the blessing and started by telling Heavenly Father about our snowman with a "baby carrot" nose and stick hands. She did remember to thank Him for the food, though. I think the smile on the snowman is indicative of the way we felt this morning. AAAAHHHHH, life is good :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Now that we are all 10 lbs fatter than we were on the 21st we need to see some pictures of everyone's Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful day even if I did only set two tables. I just want you all to know how thankful I am for the blessings in my life and at the top of the list is my eternal family. I love you all so much and I'm so grateful for the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ and all that brings into our life.

More November Birthdays

Can you believe we have MORE birthdays this month? Tomorrow is Dale's He will be 15 (unbelievable!) then Melissa and Hyrum both have birthdays on the 21st. I think Hyrum turns 11 and I'm pretty sure Melissa is 21 and holding. Then Lindy has her 19th on the 24th. Wow! It's a good thing I don't do birthday gifts or I would be broke after November and couldn't afford to get Christmas gifts (that I don't do) in December.

National Championships

The University of Utah came short of a National Title this last weekend. OUr first game was against Grand Valley State University, and it wasn't pretty. My players and I were star struck and nervous to even be in the championships that it got the best of us, and before we had a chance to get into it, the game was over and we lost 11-6.
That put us out of the running for the National Title, but we went on to play and win Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Oregon, to take 9th place over all, winning the losers bracket and ending the season with the 3rd best winning record in the Nation.

I just thought I would let everyone know within the Salt Lake vicinity that Tom will be speaking in church (a.k.a his farewell) on November 25th. Our ward's sacrament meeting starts at 12:45p.m.

Dancesport

Right now I'm in Dance 180 here at BYU, which is the basic social dance class. It's tons of fun. Probably one of my favorite classes. Well, every semester, BYU has a dance competition called Dancesport. It's not mandatory to compete, but we are all encouraged to compete. And me, loving not only dancing, but performing as well, couldn't resist an opportunity like this. So I asked one of the girls in my class if she would be my partner for Dancesport. (I made sure that she was a good dancer too) We practiced in class and outside of class a few times. We knew that we were pretty good, but we weren't sure how far we would go in the competition. There were about 210 couples in the Dance 180 competition. We were doing Bronze American Cha Cha. We made it all the way up to the quarter finals. There were only 24 couples left in the quarter finals. But we were one of the 12 couples cut before the semi finals. We may not have made it all the way to the top, but there was only one other couple in our class who made it further than we did, and they won. So we felt pretty satisfied with our performance. These are just a few pictures of us after the competition and then of us dancing.

Happy Birthday to Tom. Big 19!!!! I would have posted before but we just got home from our week at the temple. Yeah Tom!

An awesome experience!

Today in Seminary we had a student from Tel Aviv come and visit. She came with the Student body president who was in my 5th period.

It was one of the best Old Testament lessons we have had all year, as the students were able to answer questiosn about everything she was wondering. It was so great to see the Holy Ghost use the informatoin of the Old Testament and modern day israel to testify of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a Prophet today! We just got done teaching the Abrahamic Covenant and the opportunity to teach that to a Jew with the realization of a Temple and the covenants we make at Baptism made Leah understand how important the covenant is.

The Old Testament is amazing! It is Temple Prep, Restoration Prep, and Mission Prep all over the place! Just thought I'd share...

November birthdays

Happy birthday tomorrow (Nov. 3) to Garry they Younger and Sunday (the 4th) to Shanell. You kids just keep stacking up the birthdays! Hugs and kisses to both of you.

Well, for Halloween, I went as a samurai. Big surprise there huh? I had a dance lab for my dance class that I went to. It was a lot of fun. They played only music that we know how to dance to. So I got to do a lot of Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Waltz, and some Swing too. It was really funny to walk around campus yesterday and see all sorts of fun costumes. I even found Waldo from "Where's Waldo"!

Not much new is going on here in my life. Just school and work. Next weekend I am going to participate in a dance competition though. I'm really excited. We are dancing Cha Cha for our competition. It's a lot of fun. :) I'll let you all know how that goes. And hopefully, I'll be able to post some more pictures.
