Puerto Rican pets

We went to dinner tonight and on our way we saw this creature just hanging out. Terriann didn't see it till she got right up on it and well lets just say she was a little startled. Now when we first flew into Puerto Rico we saw these all over the ground near the landing strip then we started seeing people just carrying them around, apparently they are very common to have as pets i didnt get the courage to actually touch it but i think i was doing pretty good just getting this close to it, the way he was sitting i thought he was going to jump on me or something and we can only imagine what would happen then! this thing is huge and josh cut it off but the tail is longer than the body it's crazy. The owner came over and was trying to get us all to pet him and helped Mike (todd's brother) touch him, the guy kept letting the lizard (we dont know the exact name of them) kiss/lick him like a dog or cat crazy huh. anyway that is the latest update on our little family adventures.

Family is GREAT!!

I am so glad we got this whole Family Blog thing going. It is so much fun to get on here and see what everbody is up to. It seems like it makes us not quite so far away from each other. The girls ended up with 3rd at State. And now Rachelle is at Shanell's in Idaho for a few days - before basketball starts :) They were both pretty excited about the whole thing. We love you all and miss everybody that is so far away.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Well the 26th is Mike's brithday. He's the big two three. He says he feels old...I keep telling him, you should, you've got a little boy and another kid on the way. Well we celebrated his birthday yesterday by going on a date with some of our friends. But what the guys didn't know, is that they were going to be kidnaped and turned into Ninja Turtles.

We had a lot of fun planning it. We blind folded the guys and then put masks of ninja turtles over their faces. It was funny. We told them they had to guess what the mask was on their face. Both of them felt the masks and guessed it right away...but we still kept them blind folded. We took them to the cemetary on grand by MSU and walked them up the Gazebo steps. Then we gave them their wepons, and told them to fight to the death....blind. They were pretty shocked, but after they got over it, and realized they had cool "wepons" to fight with it got really funny.

Anyhow, we took them around town and took their pictures in front of some pretty funny things in springfield. Then we went to Ci Ci's Pizza (going with the whole turtles theme), and then went to their house to open presents and break a pinyata....which we ended up stabing open with a pocket knife because it wouldn't break.

So for those of you looking for fun dates to do, go with a theme of some sort and the ideas just blow through your mind. It's fun. Try it!

Date night cont...

Well I figured I might as well post something one here since I have been home for over 2 months. First a little update on my life... I'm working construction right now with Josh Willis (couson on Mom's side) and it's ok, but it's kind of chilly in the morning. But it is all ok when my paycheck comes on fridays. I'm not in school yet, but I have been accepted to BYU in Provo. I'm really excited. I'm going to be in the same appartment building as on of my favorite Missionary Companions so we will be in the same ward and everything out there too. I'm going to major in Chinese and do something with international buisness, and another fun thing is that I'm going to take a Gymnastics class while I'm out there! I'm WAY excited about that! And now.... for the part that is all you all really apparently care about...
THE DATE!!
Well, what it was, was Randy Grout, Caty Gainer, and Kamie Lowe planned everything. And they each asked someone for another person, so they didn't know who their date was until they came and found us. So I was hidding up on top of a parking garrage at MSU Campus, and she had to come find me. It didn't all work out exactly how it was supposed to but it's ok, because it wsa fun anyway. (I went with Caty by the way) We played Marco Polo for a few min while she was trying to find me. Then we all met back up at the Institute building and took off for Grandma's house. We all had a blast! Randy taught us how to make "Honey I'm Home" sandwitches. And as Grandma already said, it was COLD! But it was ok, because we had a ton of blankets so we could all bundle up (which by the way, was verry nice). So we had a candel lit picnick there on the lake. And Phillip took the anchor off, so when we decided to go back up to the house, we (Caty and I) had to get us back to the shore (but if you ask Phillip or Randy they got the motor "working" and they were the ones that "helped us get back to shore"... but we all know better....). So then we all went up to the house and cooked smores...mmmm...and then we went down to the basement and played Pit and told really corny jokes. Then just before we left, we wrote a poem and drew a picture to thank Grandma and Grandpa. Well, I'm really good about making a book out of a little story. So that's the scoop on the date at Grandma's house. I hope you all enjoyed. Because I sure did!

Date night at Grandma's

Sat. night we had some "grandkids" come to our place for a date night. It was cold and wet but they went to the lake and had dinner on the raft then came up to the house and toasted marshmellows in the fire place. Caty Gainer arranged the evening and it just happened to include one of our "by bitrh" grandkids [Keith] We didn't know some of the kids but I got a "Grandma hug" from all of them, even the guys. It was fun to have them here. I love you all and I'm so grateful that you are mine!

Baby Garry Crawls!

Here are some pics of baby Garry crawling around the living room at Grandma Weekes' house. He gets around really good. Sometimes he tries to catch bugs and eat them. I think we've stopped him before he's actually ingested any...but you never know. He's got four teeth now, two on top, two on bottom, and his favorite foods are cheerios and pizza crusts. That's our update!

Charlie Brown's adventures at church

Well...let me start with a story...no too long...a tale. There once was a boy who knew how to speak another language, many people taught him when he was little, but it wasn't Spanish, German or Italian. He knew how to sign to the deaf. He kept it his little secret so that no knew. One day he was trying to tell someone who was hearing impaired that a child was going to grab their tie. Frustrated he sign to them and the whole room stopped and stared. Skulking he tried to never use it a again. But to his surprise another day came where he was worried that some of his friends in church, wouldn't have seats to sit in because of a soon to be missionary had invited every girl and her family within 100 square miles. His concern grew and over came his tidiness. He signs to another hearing impaired person about if they had enough chairs and what should he do. It opened a can that he knows he can never shut. Shocked as she was she pinned him down after their meetings and asked him where he learned how to sign and could he interpret. He told them the whole story of his childhood friend and how he and others like him had to learn. How his father and mother pushed him to learn and so forth. This tale ends on a happy and sad note. You see he can never go back to not signing and now he'll have a easier time telling people what he is saying without the need for an interpreter.
The moral of this story is learn as much as you can about something, one day it might get you out of a bind.

Sunny Puerto Rico

Hi everybody i learned how to download my pics from my camera and put them on the blog all by myself!!! here is a pic of josh boogie boarding at the beach behind our house those are some of the smaller waves we've been in! i like them that size or smaller:) but josh seems to like the bigger ones. we miss you all and we dont get fall but at least we get this right:) i'll have more picutres for all of you shortly we just really have been doing alot with all of the work the boys have been doing but the head guy that is over all of the hotels came and looked at the job and said that it was the best framing job he had ever seen! so that is good news hopefully we get more jobs like this in the future!

Something exciting is happening in Logan, finally!

I just thought I would let you know that abc's Extreme Home Maker-Over is in Logan this week. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a T.V. show on abc, on Sundays, that goes to needy families and builds them a new house in a week! It's a great show ( I think my mom cries every time she sees it) On Sunday morning they came to a family here in Logan and told them their house was picked. This is a LDS family with 9 kids and a nephew living under one little roof. They came here from Tonga in 1991 and shortly thereafter their father died from a heart attack, and now they are scraping to get through each month. This city really came together for this project, Kody and I wanted to volunteer but by Sunday night they had too many and we were put on a waiting list (we still haven't received a call to help out yet:( ). Because Logan has showed such great charity, more than they have seen in other cities, they are making it a two hour special to show the community's involvement! Kody and I have watched everyday and it has been really neat to see the house torn down on Tuesday and them already having the whole outside finished today! Now they just have to do the finishing touches on the inside and landscaping. I have been taking picture of the project so when I get a chance I will post them! All of you should watch, it should be aired sometime in December, I will tell you the exact date when we find out.

Autumn day, bright and g....

Darn those perverts, they have taken a beautiful, poetic word and corrupted it! But it is a beautiful day with or without the use of poetic words. There are such brilliant splashes of red and yellow in the woods that it almost looks like a forest fire. I'm still practicing with my new camera and my new "skills" at transferring my pictures on to the computer then on to the blog so here are my latest efforts at "computer photography"
The drought continues to be a major problem and the lake is so low that the waterfall hasn't been spilling over for months. But age has taught me that time has a way of curing almost all problems and this too shall pass. With an abundance of black walnuts this year and at $13.00 a hundred lbs. it has turned into quite a lucrative part time job to pick up walnuts and sell them. (but not for me, I don't do the bending over thing any more!)
Grandpa is still working on his barn and trying not to swear when he measures wrong and cuts a board to short. He is successful most of the time. (both at measuring properly and at not swearing!) I love you all and love to see your pictures and comments on the family blog, it is a wonderful way of keepingus all close even though we are starting to be scattered all over the U.S. (and Porta Rico) It would be even more fun if we could get more of you on line and contributing. We know what we are having!

We are having a little girl. I am so thrilled. I had decided that having a boy again would be fine and that is probably what would happen anyway, but when they said "it looks like a girl" I could hardly contain myself and about jumped right off of the table. I wanted David to be a boy and I wanted this one to be a girl and they both did just as I asked. Now if they will just keep it up. I cant believe how stinking cute my little boy has gotten. I always say the cutest ones are the hardest ( God did that to save thier lives) . Well in David's case it is very true. But he is full of smiles all the time. I love my little family and now we get to add a perfect little princess to the bunch what more could I ask for.

being pregnant

This is my impression of me being 5 months pregnant. Apparently you can even tell I'm pregnant when I'm wearing my big hoodie. We got our truck liscensed finaly yesterday and the lady behind the counter asked when I was due. I'll try and update my pictures every month or so till She is born. Oh and Lydia learned a new trick. She will kick a flash light. She is big enough that when you push on my stomach you can tell where her head is and stuff. I felt her back yesterday. She pushed up really hard, Mark said he felt her little foot the other day. It's fun. And if anybody has any good ideas to make the nest 4 months go by fast, let me know.

We just bought mikey a walker at a thrift store, and he loves it! It has a detachable toy bar, but he likes to chew on it, and we like it cause he cant choke on it. It's GREAT! Anyhow, this is the miker boy with his new speed machine. Oh and by the way, mikey cut his first tooth!!! he's a cutie!

Utes are going to Conference Championships!

The University of Utah Water Polo team went 6-2 in regular season with two heartbreaking losses to Colorado University and University of Arizona. However, we have a great chance to take the championships in November when we head to Tuscon, AZ for the championship tournament as a 3 seed. This weekend in New Mexico we blew away Colorado School of Mines (26-2), Nothern Arizona University (28-8) & Colorado State (27-10) with a 2 point loss to Colorado 16-14. Wish us luck!

Final Four!

We're on our way to Columbia!! At the beginning of the 7th inning, the score was 1 - 2. Rachelle gave us a double, then was our tieing run. We had 2 more runs before we were out. We held the other team to only 1 more run with a final score of 4 - 3. Yea!!!! We play in the semi-finals in Columbia on Friday with Finals on Saturday.

Kelsie was crowned Jr. High Homecoming Queen last night. You'd never guess by looking that she had just played a full basketball game! The girls won their game. The boys - did not.

Update on Rachelle's softball. They won districts, won sectionals, and play 1/4 finals this Saturday. Hopefully we'll win and be on our way to Columbia for State Finals!

Microsoft Certified Desktop Service Technician (MCDST)

Well, the certs keep on coming. I just passed the second half of the certification I took last month and I'm officially a Microsoft Certified Desktop Service Technician (MCDST). (Basically means I can install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows XP, 2000, Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook Express Microsoft programs.) Next on the plate is the Microsoft Certified System Administrator. Now I have a story to tell...
I had scheduled the exam like almost 3 weeks ahead of time. Well, that's normal. BUT, we had also bought tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert that's going to be here in Cedar this Friday. We just happened to schedule my exam for the same date and time as the concert was going to be. Yea, we're quick on our toes around here, eh? So I went online to re-schedule and the test center that I had signed up to take the test at, was no longer on the website. I called the testing company and they said that the Dixie State College (In St. George) wouldn't be a testing center anymore after the end of this week. I was kind of upset about that because the closest other Prometric testing centers are in Provo or Las Vegas, each 3 hours away! Well, I called the local community technical college (since they offer classes for the kinds of certifications that I'm dong) and asked if they took their tests in St. George too. I was going to get a petition or something together. Well, it turns out, that there is another company that offers Microsot tests, like Prometric, and they have a testing center right here in Cedar City. I don't have to drive an hour to take a test anymore. How cool is that! Anyway, I thought it was cool that I've had a testing center right under my nose this whole time, and I just barely found out about it. Funny what you'll do when driven to extremes. (I really didn't want to drive 3 hours every month or two just to take a test... Whew!)

4 months left

I have been spending a lot of time alone last week and this week. Not by choise. Mark is working in Wyoming for 2 weeks. One week down, one to go. He got to come home for the weekend though adn that was great, but it was hard for both of us for him to leave again. But one good thing did come out of it. We realized how much Lydia knows his voice. She didnt move near as much last week as she usualy does but when Mark got home she was all over the place. IT was fun, and it made Mark feel really good too.
I'm getting bigger, I actually look pregnant now not like I have an abnormal growth on my stomach. I'll take a picture this week and post it on the blogg so you cans ee what I look like.
Well other than that Idaho is cold and I can't wait for the week to be over so mark will get home.

Willard Band Ozarko competition

Just thought you all might like to know that the kids took 1st in prelims and 1st in finals at the Ozarko marching band competition hosted at SMS last Saturday. They performed well. We had a wonderful day as a family. I got to take the day off and spent all day in town with the whole family. It was awesome. I think I could get used to not working on Saturday, it's kind of nice. I guess the rest of the world knows what it's like to have a day off each week, but it's a new experience for me.

Marhsall's Famous

Marshall was on the front page of the Springfield News Leader today. They did an article about the Willard band. He was one of the first ones on the band field that morning so he laid down to wait for the rest of the band to catch up with him. Softball Season

It was Senior night for the Softball Lad Panthers. It was their last home game of the season. They ended the evening with another win and a regular season record of 23-2. They hopefully have 6 more wins ahead of them before the year is officially over. Districts start this weekend and they are ceded 1st in their district. spiders and snakes

Hi all you wonderful children and grandchildren. Last week we had beautiful fall weather and I took advantage of it to work in my yard a little. I saw a huge spider that had spun a web across the front of one of my flower gardens. I couldn't help but be impressed by the skill and intricate workmanship of that huge web. I took a picture of it to send to all of you but can't figure out how to get it on the blogg. (Ann helped me get it reduced for email but we don't know how to get it on here.) Later that same day I saw a snake in another of my flower gardens. It was moving slow (but I wasn't!) None of my feelings about the snake were positive!
I hope you all were able to watch conference. I don't know when I have ever been more uplifted and renewed as I was with this conference. Every talk seemed to go stright to my heart. I feel so blessed to know that we have a living prophet to get us through these troubled times we are living in. Love to you all, Grandma
